Vinculado \u00e0 Diretoria do Instituto, o \u00f3rg\u00e3o atua como um elemento articulador entre o ICEx e a Pr\u00f3-Reitoria de Extens\u00e3o da UFMG (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ufmg.br\/proex\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PROEX<\/a>) e conta com a seguinte estrutura: secretaria, coordena\u00e7\u00e3o e colegiado integrado pelos representantes docentes de todos os Departamentos, t\u00e9cnicos em educa\u00e7\u00e3o e discentes do Instituto.<\/p><p>A Extens\u00e3o Universit\u00e1ria, sob o princ\u00edpio constitucional de indissociabilidade entre ensino, pesquisa e extens\u00e3o, \u00e9 um processo interdisciplinar educativo, cultural, cient\u00edfico e pol\u00edtico que promove a intera\u00e7\u00e3o transformadora entre a universidade e a sociedade.\u00a0 As atividades de extens\u00e3o podem ser realizadas sob a forma de programas, projetos, cursos, eventos ou presta\u00e7\u00e3o de servi\u00e7os.<\/p><p>As atividades de extens\u00e3o do instituto est\u00e3o registradas no Sistema de Informa\u00e7\u00e3o de Extens\u00e3o (<a href=\"https:\/\/sistemas.ufmg.br\/siex\/PrincipalVisitante.do\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SIEX<\/a>), um sistema on-line que permite o registro e a visualiza\u00e7\u00e3o das atividades e produ\u00e7\u00f5es de extens\u00e3o da universidade. Atualmente, todos os departamentos do ICEx est\u00e3o envolvidos em atividades extensionistas.
